The Team

Benjamin Kewell

Surfing Experience:14 years

I have surfed in: Scotland, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Sardinia, Morocco, Fuerteventura, Madeira, Senegal, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Philippines, California-USA, Peru, Brazil and most of the English coast.

My favourite spot for surfing is: Cojo's, The Ranch, California, USA and of course, the stone groyne in Cromer when its on. lol

What I do for Glide Surf School: I started the Glide Surf School back in the summer of 2007.  Since then I have continued to watch it grow and develop and move from success to success.  I would like to take all the credit but there have been lots of people who have really helped along the way whether it is doing lessons, graphic design work, website and technical work, financial help and general encouragement.  My jobs range from instructing surf and SUP lessons, organising the annual diary, phone calls and emails, washing the wetsuits, managing the finances and driving the trailer around the winding lanes of north Norfolk!

Paul 'Nemo' Reeve

Surfing Experience: 5 years

I have surfed in: England, Wales, France, Spain, NZ, Australia

My favourite spot for surfing is: Yamba Australia

What I do for Glide Surf School: Have taught a summer session in Australia and for Glide Surf School.

If you can catch waves in Cromer you'll be able to catch them anywhere!... and if the waves aren't around, there is always Stand Up Paddle Boarding to top up your skills!

Colin Herbert Howell

 Surfing Experience:  20+ years

I have surfed in: Around all the UK coastline and Southern Ireland, Barbados, Canary Islands, Sri Lanka, California, Hawaii, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Mozambique, Liberia, Morocco, Madeira, Indonesia and the Philippines. More recently in search of flawless waves, less crowds and simply more obscure surfing locations I’ve explored and surfed in Egypt, Iceland, Lebanon, Israel Sicily, the Orkney Islands and remote parts of perilous Mindanao (Southern Philippines) and the treacherous southern coastline of Pakistan.

My favourite spot for surfing is: I’m rather ambivalent regarding my home break Cromer – On an autumn day, whilst the North Sea is still warmish and a long period swell is marching down from Scotland upon the banks of the ‘Stone Groyne’, Cromer can cajole one into thinking it’s the best place in the world – especially finishing off with a beach barbecue. However, when winter arrives on our doorstep, it’s a brutal, sometimes sombre affair, with as much neoprene as one can afford and only the odd grey seal to converse with. By early January, one’s mind become preoccupied with finding refuge in sunnier climes, perhaps my favourite place of escape more recently is the glorious continent of Africa.

What I do for Glide Surf School: I did an entire season as Surf Instructor/SUP lessons in 2011 and now hold a position of standing in for Paul when he’s probably off on a surf trip South West! I’ve also helped with the graphic design for the Glide surf school with future plans to film and edit a documentary on the business and the local surfers in Norfolk.
